A Surprisingly Warm Winter Wedding in Muskego, Wisconsin
Thomas and Olivia were married on January 5, 2019. Of course, during our planning I envisioned a winter wedding with lots of snow and cold weather to navigate. They also anticipated this and were even nervous that guests would potentially not be able to come due to bad weather. Typically, January is the coldest month of the year in Wisconsin, but this day was quite the contrary! As Denny and I packed up and headed down from Minnesota we were happy to see that the weather called for full sun and 50 degree temps! We left our home that was surrounded by over a foot of snow and arrived at the wedding location feeling like we just got to a spring break destination! We were happily greeted by green grass, dry roads, and warm air! Everyone was loving this spring-like weather in the middle of winter!
The day began with the bride and groom getting ready alongside their family and friends. The girls were giddy and excited about the day-eager to see Olivia in her gorgeous wedding dress and for all the fun to come. The guys played ping pong and enjoyed snacks as they waited for their turn for photos. Tom and Olivia decided to wait to see each other until the ceremony and so we took some photos separately of the girls and guys beforehand.
I could tell that both Thomas and Olivia were feeling a little nervous and mostly anxious and excited to see each other and to finally be married! Everyone was anticipating their reactions as Olivia walked down the isle. Before she even came around the corner, tears were streaming down Tom’s face. And although I know that Thomas is crazy about Olivia and thinks she is the most gorgeous girl on the planet, there was more behind those tears than the recognition of her beauty. Behind those tears was a realization that he was marrying the girl of his dreams and that this very moment was a pivotal moment in time. The moment that he would become one with his wife. The moment that they started their life together. The ceremony was meaningful and heartfelt. They shared their own written vows and founded their marriage on the truth of God’s Word.
After the ceremony we snuck away for a few more photos of the bride and groom. What an honor it was to spend the first hour with the two of them as husband and wife. Through their sweet embraces and joy filled smiles you could tell just how excited they were to be married and how much they truly cared for one another!
Guests enjoyed a delicious dinner, catered by Qdoba (I was in heaven!!), homemade pies and cheesecakes for dessert, and a dance party that was so packed you had to squeeze past people to get in on the fun.
It was a beautiful wedding for one of the most beautiful couples I know. It was such an honor to share in their joy and to get a first-hand view of their wedding day. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I do! They are some of my favorites I’ve ever taken and I can’t wait to add them to my wedding portfolio!
