A One Year Anniversary Session
Last summer I had the privilege of photographing David and Alexa’s wedding. It was a beautiful day that ended with these two committed to each other for life. I still remember the crazy weather we had that day-and I’m sure all of their guests do too! A thunderous summer storm hit Grand Rapids and all of the power in our town went out just prior to the wedding start time!
I was thinking back on this day and how at the time, the storm and power outage seemed like such a terrible thing. I personally was in a panic as I tried to figure out how to get my camera to focus in a dark room, audio adjustments had to be made to the music and pastor’s message, and everyone was a little extra careful as they made their way to their seats so as to not bump into someone or something. And although it seemed like nothing worse could have happened, this “problem” actually ended up to be quite beautiful. Extra candles were found and lit and a few other accommodations were made. David and Lex ended up having one of the most beautiful and romantic ceremonies I have ever been to. There was one focus-the commitment that the two of them were making together under God. It was something I will never forget.
And isn’t marriage just like that?! We hope and dream of a perfect life together and then the storms and trials come-as they always do. But when they come, if we work together to get through them, and keep our focus on the Lord and loving one another, by the grace of God we actually make it out with a stronger and more beautiful marriage.
Happy 1 year anniversary David and Lex! May you always fight through the storms of life together and may your love grow stronger and more true because of it!
